Description


The Board of Supervisors office houses the purchasing clerk, the 911 coordinator/receiving clerk, Comptroller, and office clerk. These offices handle all county business, billing, bids, submitting new home addresses, requesting an appearance before the board, requesting the boards help, etc. If you have any questions pertaining to the county, roads, infrastructure, and assistance please call the Lawrence County Board of Supervisors office.

The chancery clerk is responsible for a number of things in the county. They must record and preserve all land records recordable in the county. Such records include deeds of trust, mortgages, mineral leases, and plats of land surveys. The clerk also receives all bills, petitions, motions, accounts, inventories, and other papers and reports on behalf of the county. Serves as clerk of the county and circuit courts. Receives and files all lawsuits, indictments, motions, and other related papers in all civil and criminal cases filed in the circuit or county courts. Issues all process including summons and subpoenas. If you are interested in registering to vote, file a lawsuit, or any business for civil and criminal cases please call the Lawrence County Circuit Clerks office.

Justice Courts have jurisdiction over small claims civil cases involving amounts of $3,500 or less, misdemeanor criminal cases and any traffic offense that occurs outside a municipality. If you are looking to handle a ticket, misdemeanor case, or small claims please call the Lawrence County Justice Court.

The Tax Assessor-Collector is the constitutional office directed to assess and collect all ad valorem tax accounts as identified and valued by the Lawrence County Tax Assessor. The Lawrence County Tax Office also collects property taxes for all other taxing jurisdictions (school districts, cities and special districts).  For the State of Mississippi, the office also collects fees for titles and registration of motor vehicles within the County.
